Opportunity GrantED Junior Board
The Opportunity GrantED Junior Board provides high school students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, engage in philanthropy, and make a meaningful impact in their community.
Working alongside the Executive Board, and guided by Cara Andrus, Executive Board Member and Junior Board Liaison at events, and advocate for educational equity throughout Chicagoland.
Through hands-on involvement, students gain valuable experience in nonprofit leadership while helping provide classroom resources that empower teachers and create opportunities for students.
Each year, the Junior Board comprises ~25 dedicated students committed to supporting equity in education.

Junior Board Events
Throughout the year, Junior Board members plan and support events that raise funds, build community, and increase awareness of Opportunity GrantED's mission.
Fall Meet & Greet
The Junior Board kicks off each school year with a Fall Meet & Greet, where members connect with one another, hear updates from the Executive Board, brainstorm fundraising and volunteer events for the year ahead, and establish committees and leadership roles for each initiative. The event helps set priorities, build momentum, and prepare the Junior Board for a successful year of supporting Opportunity GrantED's mission.
CorePower Yoga Fundraiser
A community yoga event that brought supporters together while raising funds for classroom grants.
Day of Giving
A student-led fundraising campaign that encouraged friends, family, and community members to support teachers and students across Chicagoland.
Opportunity GrantED Comedy Night
Junior Board members volunteer and support the organization's signature annual fundraising event.
